Providing learning experiences that prepare students for success in the 21st century is the primary focus of this curriculum. These instructional units, lessons, and resources were designed to address the needs of a diverse student population. Units and individual lessons include research-based strategies and technology-rich resources to serve special needs populations and extended learning opportunities for gifted and talented students.

Curriculum & 21st Century Learning
To meet the needs of our future graduates in times of exponential change, we are designing and delivering 21st century learning experiences in a guaranteed and viable curriculum. It is accessible by students, parents, teachers administrators and support staff 24/7.
Looking through the course content for various grade levels, you will find electronic resources, digital instructional videos, review games, and other supports for the variety of student interests and skill levels found in classrooms today.
Parents will find helpful hints and strategies to support and extend learning opportunities at home.
Curriculum Design
“Digitization and miniaturization of information processing power are expanding exponentially and are changing the world, our lives, and our communities at an overwhelming speed.
To be viable, schools must adapt to this new environment. We must embrace and seize technology’s potential to capture the hearts and minds of this, the first digital generation, so that the work designed for them is more engaging and respects their superior talents with digital devices and connections.”
Creating a New Vision for Public Education in Texas
Texas Association of School Administrators, May 2008
Units and lessons included here were developed using the Understanding by Design Framework by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe, and the Rigor and Relevance Framework designed by Dr. Bill Daggett. They also incorporate the use of the Response to Intervention model.
Response to Intervention (RtI)
The nationally recognized methodology for helping students achieve minimal expectations. Tier 1 instruction should address the needs of 80% of the student population. Differentiated instruction is the protocol used to make sure that students do not "fall through the cracks." For students that need additional support, Tier 2 strategies are in place to provide individual and small group tutorial and remediation supports aimed at returning students to Tier 1. For those needing more intensive supports, Tier 3 provides a plan for immediate knowledge and skill development so students can perform at grade level and return to Tier 1 instruction.Positive Behavior System (PBS)
Students needing assistance in recognizing and exhibiting appropriate levels of self-discipline are supported by strategies and interventions to help them master these crucial social skills.21st Century LEARNER Profile
The Seawinn 21st Century LEARNER Profile combines extensive research and recommendations from the Partnership for 21st Century Skills with student standards from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).The LEARNER acronym creates a concise picture of the attributes all Pre-K - post secondary educators must understand and support throughout the educational process. Beginning with the end in mind, and monitoring progress along the way will insure that every graduate possesses, not only the foundation knowledge to pass state standardized tests, but also possesses the skills and attributes necessary for success in a rapidly changing world.
